"There is one fundamental question: whether a person wants to take control of her life or not. The fact is that because life is a gift, you have never valued it; therefore you have never cared to take control of it. That’s where the point of pain lies."

Waheguru! Sachi... My thoughts about it - There are interestingly two facets in Sikhi - one facet says become the slave of God and listen to His hukam - the other facet says you are kings and tigers and warriors of your destiny, go and fight for it. But are they really so opposite each other? Countless times in Gurbani it says to realize the precious gift of the human body, see how fortunate you are to be living in this seat of consciousness in which you can exert control over your destiny, raise your consciousness and go towards your ultimate destiny which is God-oneness. Sikhi is not only about laying on the ground half-dead crying 'God save me', perhaps God saved many who did that, His pity and Mercy are endless. But you have to exert the mind and the body into action, to create change in your own destiny. It means to take control. It means to make decisions each moment of your life, the decisions which will lead you to 'higher and better' places - they might not be the easiest ones to make, but you have to fight for it, learn from it, advance no matter what it takes. The moment you take responsibility for your life, your health, your happiness, your holiness, you will have no choice but to take control and exert the use of your highest consciousness and neutral mind.
